PREVENTIVE CARE

WHY IS AC MAINTENANCE IMPORTANT?

Instead of waiting for an AC problem to occur, regular inspection and maintenance can help identify developing issues at an early stage.

01

Better Airflow

Clean filters, the blower, and cooling surfaces help maintain proper airflow.

02

Cooling Check

Regular performance testing can help identify weak cooling or abnormal operation at an early stage.

03

Drainage Care

Checking the condition of the drain pipe and tray can reduce the risk of blockage and water leakage.

04

Early Fault Detection

Loose electrical connections, unusual noise, fan problems or other developing faults can be identified early.

MAINTENANCE PROCESS

HOW DOES A TECHNICIAN PERFORM AC MAINTENANCE?

During proper maintenance, the technician first assesses the condition, then performs the required cleaning/checks, and finally tests the system.

STEP 01

Initial Inspection

The AC's age, condition, previous issues, cooling, airflow, noise, and leakage are observed.

STEP 02

Cleaning & Drainage

Required filters, coil, blower, drain tray, and drainage system are cleaned/checked.

STEP 03

Outdoor Inspection

Condenser, fan, compressor mounting, airflow, noise, and outdoor unit condition are checked.

STEP 04

Technical Checks

Electrical connections, operating behaviour, and refrigeration-related symptoms may be checked.

STEP 05

Final Testing

The AC is run to verify cooling, airflow, drainage, noise and overall operation again.

PREVENT PROBLEMS

WHICH PROBLEMS CAN MAINTENANCE HELP IDENTIFY EARLY?

An important benefit of maintenance is that the technician can identify abnormal symptoms before they become a major failure and address them early.

01

Weak Airflow

If airflow is reduced because of a dirty filter, blower, or coil, it can be identified during inspection.

02

Water Leakage

By checking the drain tray, drain pipe, and water flow, developing drainage problems can be identified.

03

Abnormal Noise

Fan, blower, mounting, vibration ya other mechanical symptoms can be investigated at an early stage.

04

Electrical Issues

Loose connections, capacitor symptoms, relay/contactor issues or visible wiring abnormalities can be checked.

05

Coil & Condenser Dirt

Accumulated dirt on indoor and outdoor heat-transfer surfaces can affect airflow and heat transfer.

06

Cooling Abnormality

By observing unusual changes in cooling performance, the need for further diagnosis can be identified.

WHEN TO MAINTAIN

WHEN SHOULD AC MAINTENANCE BE DONE?

The exact frequency depends on usage, dust, environment, AC condition, and manufacturer recommendations.

BEFORE SUMMER

March – April

Before peak summer, it is practical to have a complete inspection, cleaning, drainage, and performance check.

HEAVY USAGE

During Summer

If the AC is running for long hours every day, regularly monitor the filter and airflow, and have maintenance/service performed when symptoms appear.

AFTER HEAVY USE

Post-Summer

After heavy summer usage, cleaning and inspection can help identify dust, drainage, and developing problems at an early stage.

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AC SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

Both terms are commonly used interchangeably, but it is useful for customers to understand that their practical focus is different.

Main Purpose Cleaning & servicing Preventive care & inspection
Filter Cleaning Yes Yes
Coil Cleaning As per service type As required
Drainage Check Yes Yes
Electrical Inspection Basic More detailed

DON'T IGNORE THESE SIGNS

SIGNS YOU SHOULD NOT IGNORE

The need for maintenance can often be identified from small changes in the AC's behaviour .

Cooling Is Not What It Used To Be

The room is taking unusually long to cool or the cooling has become noticeably weak.

Airflow Has Decreased

Airflow from the indoor unit is weaker than before.

Water Is Dripping

Water leakage or unusual dripping from the indoor unit is being noticed.

Ice Is Visible

Abnormal ice formation on the indoor coil or copper pipe should not be ignored.

Unusual Noise

Unusual sound/vibration is coming from the fan, blower, outdoor unit, or compressor area.

AC Is Tripping Repeatedly

Repeated electrical trips or abnormal startup should be diagnosed by a technician.

!

MAINTENANCE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN GAS FILLING

During routine AC maintenance, refrigerant-related symptoms can be checked, but simply because it is maintenance does not mean gas should be added without diagnosis. In a properly sealed AC system, refrigerant does not normally simply “run out.” If low refrigerant is suspected, the leak and system condition should be properly diagnosed.

FAQ

AC MAINTENANCE — COMMON QUESTIONS

What is AC maintenance?
AC maintenance is a preventive process in which the AC's filters, coils, blower, drainage, outdoor unit, electrical components, cooling performance, and other important operating conditions are inspected and maintained properly.
What is the difference between AC maintenance and AC service?
AC service primarily focuses on cleaning and servicing, whereas preventive maintenance includes cleaning along with inspection, performance checks, and identification of developing faults as well.
How often should AC maintenance be done?
The exact frequency depends on usage and the environment. For ACs with heavy summer use in Delhi, pre-summer maintenance is practical. Manufacturer recommendations and the AC's condition should also be considered.
Is gas filling included in AC maintenance?
Normally, routine maintenance does not automatically mean gas filling is included. If a refrigerant issue is diagnosed, the leak, pressure, and system condition may require separate refrigeration work.
Can maintenance improve AC cooling?
If reduced performance is connected to dirt, restricted airflow, drainage or another maintenance-related issue, performance may improve after cleaning and corrective maintenance. Every cooling problem can have a different cause.
Is the outdoor unit also checked during AC maintenance?
Yes. The outdoor unit may be inspected for the condenser coil, fan, compressor operation, mounting, airflow, noise/vibration, and visible electrical/mechanical issues.
Can water leakage be fixed through maintenance?
If the leakage is caused by a drainage blockage, dirty drain tray, or a maintenance-related issue, cleaning may solve the problem. A damaged pipe, installation problem, pump, or other fault may require a separate repair.
Does maintenance include electrical checking?
Depending on the maintenance scope, electrical connections, terminals, visible wiring, capacitor/relay/contactor symptoms, and other operating issues can be inspected.
Can AC maintenance prevent compressor failure?
Maintenance does not guarantee that a component will not fail, lekin abnormal noise, overheating-related symptoms, electrical issues, airflow problems, and other developing conditions can be identified early.
How much does AC maintenance cost?
The maintenance charge depends on the AC type, cleaning level, inspection scope, and required work. Basic, complete, and deep maintenance may have different rates. It is best to confirm the final price according to the service scope.
